AWP 2026 Baltimore

I’m thrilled to be a panelist at the AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) Conference in Baltimore this year with Scryptid Games! We’ll also have a booth at the book fair. I’ll be moderating Story Game Presses: Pitching, Submissions, and Publishing: In the world of tabletop “story games,” a growing set of small press publishers champion innovative, literary game writing work—and some are even open for submissions. In this panel, independent game publishers will discuss the tabletop game publishing landscape, sharing tips and opportunities for aspiring story game writers. What are the submission conventions? Where can writers meet and build relationships with publishers? Do you need an agent to publish a game? Do you even need a publisher? And I’ll be a panelist on Prose, Poetry, and Play: Game Design as a Literary Practice: The world of narrative games is a site of rich literary possibility, expanding notions of genre and inspiring the invention of new storytelling forms. In this panel, writers who have also published tabletop “story games,” narrative video games, and interactive fiction will explore the practice of writing games. Is there a narrative games canon? How might a writer of “traditional” prose find pathways into games? What stories are best told through interactive, collaborative experiences of play?

WorldCon Seattle

I’m a panelist at WorldCon Seattle this year! I’ll be moderating a panel called Getting into the Game: Writing for Interactive Media: What does it take to write for games? How does TTRPG writing differ from video game writing, and how do those differ from traditional writing? Where do you find game-writing jobs? This panel will explore the topic from the interactive media angle, looking at the challenges and rewards of writing for analogue and video games. I also have a reading scheduled for my short story, Redo, about a woman who learns that her husband has been using time travel magic to reset their timeline every time she tries to leave him. Redo was originally published in 2024 in New Year, New You: A Speculative Anthology of Reinvention from Immortal Jellyfish Press, and then produced by PodCastle in 2025.

Narrascope

I am pumped to present This Game Is Garbage: How Form Can Inspire Play in Diceless TTRPGs at Narrascope, an annual conference exploring interactive narrative, adventure games, and interactive fiction by bringing together writers, developers, and players.

Psychic Trash Detectives is a diceless, collaborative TTRPG played with actual garbage. From the game’s opening activity, which invites players to take a real memory of being discarded and transform it into an actual piece of trash, to mini games like erasure poetry, psychic sketching, and exquisite corpse storytelling, players mine the pile of garbage they’ve brought to their gaming table for the clues to solving a mystery abandoned by the rest of the world. In this presentation, I will demonstrate how my unique game system creates ludonarrative harmony by bringing players closer to the spirit of the game through the tools they use to play it. Participants will leave with inspiration for incorporating non-traditional gaming materials into their own analogue games, imagining new, creative possibilities for immersive play.

The Goodest Girls Launch Party

My newest game, The Goodest Girls, is finally here! We're celebrating by throwing a party and helping real rescue animals find their forever homes. Join us on Saturday, May 31st, from 1-5pm, at Ominhedral in Savage, Maryland!

Inspired by 1980s sitcoms like The Golden Girls, The Goodest Girls is a replayable, single-session, shared-GM TTRPG for 2-6 players about a tight-knit group of senior animals at the local animal shelter, Shady Pines.

Ominhedral is a neighborhood game store, library, and community space located in Historic Savage Mill. During the party, we'll run short demos of The Goodest Girls featuring character sheets inspired by real adoptable rescue animals, and we’ll have several play tables reserved for you to continue your games or play any of the other TTRPGs and board games available in Ominhederal’s vast library. We’ll also have yummy treats, Scryptid Games giveaways, and other fun surprises.

All Scryptid Games sales during the event will directly benefit real rescue animals!
