Sex is one of the most intimate things humans can do and leads to vulnerability, both emotionally and physically. It's this vulnerability where the horror author can introduce terrifying scenarios. Horror authors have used body horror, dreamscapes, and other techniques to introduce sex in a frightening context while avoiding sexual assault as the key player in the narrative. Let's discuss the methods horror authors use to make us squirm.
