I will be at Capclave in Maryland all day on Saturday, October 3! Come say hi. Here’s my schedule:
10:30am: Author Reading (I am going to read the opening of my upcoming debut novel, The Normal Monster Club!)
4:00pm: Writing for Different Venues: Many writers today do not just write stories and novels but also create content for films, tv, comics, and games. How do your work methods/approaches/craft change when writing a novel vs. short stories vs. comics vs. games vs. screenwriting for TV? How easy is it to “change gears”? Writers who have written for more than one media tell us their stories and experiences.

5:30pm: “Queers in Space!”: Roughly ten percent of humanity identifies as queer and queer characters and themes regularly appear in sci-fi and fantasy. How do these stories reflect/tell the actual lived experiences of queer and other marginalized folk? How do queer and marginalized authors navigate the publishing world (especially in today’s highly charged political environment)? What does the future hold in the next 3 to 5 years? How can we use fiction and the genre to react to (and influence) the world around us?
